Abstract
Possible solutions to the microstructural instability of single phase lanthanum strontium cobaltite thin film cathode fabricated by pulsed laser deposition are presented. The effect of the deposition parameter variation and the deposition materials change from a single phase to a composite are discussed. By introducing the electrolyte-cathode composite concept to the thin film deposition and employing a gradient cathode structure, much improved stability of the high-temperature electrochemical performance and the microstructure of the thin film cathode could be obtained.
