Abstract
The simultaneous synthesis and densification of nanostructured Mg4Al2Ti9O25 from 4MgO-Al2O3-9TiO(2) powders by a pulsed current activated sintering was investigated. The advantage of this process is that it allows for very quick densification to occur near the theoretical density and inhibits grain growth. A highly dense nanostructured Mg4Al2Ti9O25 compound was produced with the simultaneous application of 80-MPa pressure and a pulsed current within 1 min. The sintering behavior, grain size and mechanical properties of Mg4Al2Ti9O23 were investigated. (C) 2012 Elsevier Ltd and Techna Group S.r.l. All rights reserved.
