Abstract
The electrorheology of the chitosan cheolesteryl succiniate suspension in silicone oil was investigated. Chitosan cheolesteryl succiniate suspension showed a typical ER (electrorheological) effect upon application of an electric field. The shear stress the shear stress is proportional to 1.21 power of the electric field. To confirm the ER effect of chitosan cheolesteryl succiniate suspension, the alignment of particles was observed using an optical micoscope with and without the electric field. The experimental results for the chitosan cheolesteryl succiniate suspension correlated with the conduction models, and this suspension behaved as an ER fluid.
