Abstract
Dense mullite ceramics with fine grains were produced from precursor powders prepared by high energy mixing of fumed alumina and silica aggregates. Dense and homogeneous coating of amorphous silica formed by mixing at pH 9.5 significantly enhanced densification as well as mullite formation rates, compared to heterocoagulation at pH 6.5.
