Abstract: In/InCl3-mediated addition of allyl iodide to alpha,beta-unsaturated carbonyl compounds gave moderate to high yields of 1,2-addition products. The reactions covered acylic and cyclic alpha,beta-unsaturated carbonyl compounds. Indium trichloride was effective for these Barbier-type allylation reactions.
