Abstract
The effect of pH and iron/manganese ion on the TiO2 mediated photocatalytic disinfection was investigated. F-coliphage MS2, E. coli and Bacillus subtilis spore were selceted as index microorganisms. Black light and 254nm uv light were illuminated over 1 g/L of P25 TiO2 suspension. With pH decreased, photocatalytic inactivation rate of MS2 was increased drastically. Adding ferrous/ferric ion didn't result in enhancement, which was proposed based on reaction scheme of photo-fenton reaction from the previous report. Manganese ion inhibited the photocatalytic inactivation of tested microorganisms.
