Two different antitumour chemotherapeutic agents, doxorubicin and (dach)platinum(II) complex (dach = trans(+/-)-1,2-diaminocyclohexane) were introduced into poly(organophosphazene) using L-glutamic acid as a spacer. The resultant polymeric conjugates exhibited high in vivo antitumour activity which increased with increasing content of (dach)platinum(II) in the conjugates. The polymeric conjugate bearing 12.3 mol% of doxorubicin and 47.6 mol% of (dach)platinum(II) has shown the highest antitumour activity, which is higher than any one alone of cisplatin, carboplatin, or doxorubicin.
