Abstract
6-Amino-2-(4-aminophenyl)-4-phenyl quinoline (QDA) as base diamine and oxydianiline(ODA) as second diamine were copolymerized with terephthaloyl chloride to make isotropic aromatic polyamide film, Transparent and amorphous films were prepared with different QDA/ODA fractions. In order to orient molecular chains of QDA/ODA, films, high temperature zone drawing method was applied at 250 similar to 400 degrees C. The draw ratio of 4.0 was achieved at a mole fraction of 0.6/0.4 QDA/ODA. Birefringence of the drawn Film showed the value of 0.020 similar to 0.034 and the feed mole ratio of QDA/ODA had a marked influence on the molecular orientation. From the fact that the crystal orientation index of the Film drawn at 400 degrees C was below 0.88, it was supposed that the effect of amorphous orientation is more predominant than that of crystal orientation. Tensile properties of the film increased with an increase in the draw ratio. Also, the maximum tensile modulus of film up to 24 GPa was achieved by drawing QDA/ODA (6/4) film at 400 degrees C, The amount of the fibrillation of the film was relatively lower than that of films hot drawn at the same drawing temperature.
