- Vanadium pentoxide nanofibers with diameters less than 100 nm and lengths of several micrometers were
successfully synthesized by a simple hydrothermal method from the V2O5 xerogel with the addition of
KMnO4 as an oxidant for preventing the vanadium ion from being reduced. The effect of experimental
conditions on the nanocrystalline V2O5 characteristics has been investigated, such as pH value of the
solution, reaction temperature, reaction time and kind of oxidants. The morphologies and the
crystallographic structures of the final products were characterized by scanning electron microscopic
images and X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) patterns. The electrochemical measurements of the cyclic
voltammograms and charge-discharge curves were carried out to reveal the electrochemical properties of
the final products.
