Abstract
CuInxGa1 xSe2 (CIGS)thinfilmswerepreparedbyapastecoatingwiththeaimofdevelopingasimpler and thelowercostmethodforfabricatingtheabsorberlayersofthinfilmsolarcells.Inparticular,a paste ofaCu,In,Ga,andSeprecursormixturewasfirstprepared,followedbyareactionbetweenthem at elevatedtemperaturesafterdepositingthepasteontoaglasssubstrate.Noapparentchangein compositionwasobservedduringthermalannealingat450 1C intheabsenceofagas-phaseselenium source. Apre-annealingprocessat250 1C underambientconditionsperformedbeforeannealing (450 1C) underreductionconditionsreducedthelevelofcarbondepositionin/onthefilmswithout perturbingthestoichiometryoftheCIGSthinfilms.
