Abstract
The test results show that the oil-free turbocharger satisfy the criteria of the rotordynamic stability and impact stability. Furthermore the oil-free turbocharger showed more efficient operating performance as shown in figure 1. In the same engine rpm, the turbocharger rotor supported on the gas foil bearings run more fast about the 10,000 to 25,000 rpm than that on the floating ring bearings. This preliminary experiment reveals that the oil-free turbocharger will be future turbocharger model for the more efficient and powerful vehicle performance.
