- The experiments in the Cu-Zr system have shown that alloys with loose packing exhibited a greater amount of global plasticity during “inhomogeneous”
deformation”, while alloys with dense packing showed a higher degree of “homogeneous” plastic strain. Since the two deformation behaviors to date have
been studied independently, this set of results at first seems contradictory when viewed from the packing density. However, considering that a shear
band is formed as a result of the plastic instability of the locally deformed areas generated during homogeneous deformation, phenomena occurring
during room temperature homogeneous deformation is considered to affect the global plasticity associated with inhomogeneous deformation.
being able to clarify how the two deformations are related each other is important not only to understand the physics underlying the global plasticity,
but also to alter the plasticity in a predictable way. In this study, we investigated the role of the atomic packing density on the global plasticity of
amorphous alloys by clarifying its effect on the homogeneous deformation.
