Abstract
Our research has been focused on the effect of MEA preparation conditions on the microstructure of catalyst layers and finally PEMFC (Polymer Electrolyte Membrane Fuel Cell) performances. After the solvent composition was optimized, with various ionomer contents of cathodes, the highest single cell voltage was obtained at ionomer content of 30% (0.9 A/㎠ @ 0.6 V). Also, the effect of relative humidity of cathodes was confirmed at various ionomer contents. The dual catalyst layer MEAs showed higher cell performance than uniformly fabricated MEA, especially at the high current density region. In addition, by performing hot-press, the longterm durability could be enhanced.
