- The effect of functional group of MWCNTs on thermal properties of MWCNTs/PAN composite film was investigated. The surface of MWCNTs was functionalized by using solvent-free aryldiazonium salt reaction with various anilines and sodium nitrite/acid. The functional group of MWCNTs influenced thermal properties of composite film in terms of reaction enthalpy and temperature of nitrile cyclization in PAN homopolymer. The 4-substituted aniline treated MWCNTs/PAN composites showed lower cyclization temperature and enthalpy in air compared with 3,5-substituted aniline treated MWCNTs /PAN.
