- Generally submerged type membrane process has been used for waste water treatment like as MBR (Membrane Bio-reactor) process. However, in the desalination market, there are some companies (Zenon and Kolon, etc.) which have developed submerged type membrane for pretreatment of SWRO system. In this study, submerged type membrane process was suggested to deal with challenging feed condition (i.e. algal bloom). Recently, it was reported that submerged MF membrane (0.2 μm) could remove more than 99% of micro-algae (J.-B. Castaing et al., 2010).
