Abstract
The paper introduces further biomechanical studies on the cupula of the Semicircular Canals in human vestibular system. Starting from anatomical, morphological and physiological background, the aim of these non linear simulations is directed to deeply understand the behavior of the vestibular system in order to fabricate new biomimetic sensors. In order to achieve the above mentioned aims, CAD model, non linear FEM analysis and modal analysis have been conducted. The model and the simulation take in account biological parameters and investigate the characteristics of the system comparing with the biological one. Starting from biological comparisons some assumptions have been done such as poisson ratio and symmetry of the part investigated. Finally the results highlight the non linear behavior of the model generated and provide the reader with meaningful data for create a sensor that can mimic in shape, dimension and transduction one part of the vestibular system.
