Abstract
A combination of a photovoltaic (PV) and an electrolytic cell into one single system, a monolithic PV-electrolytic cell, has been suggested as an efficient solar hydrogen generation system. For the realization of this architecture, precursor solution based CuInxGa1-xSeyS2-y (CIGS) thin film solar cells were developed to use as a PV photoelectrode. In addition, low temperature coating method of Co3O4 film was also developed to install an electrocatalytic layer on the reverse side of the photoelectrode for efficient water splitting.
