Abstract
In this paper we present design and implementation of MIF: system framework for enhancing user experience using multimodal interface and interaction for augmented reality system. We are also implementing prototype application, AiR Sound: a new augmented reality application which provides a novel way of interaction with an object by using motion sensor in mobile device after recognizing it. Our prototype application provides richer interfaces than previous augmented reality application in handheld device. Our research focuses on how to define multimodal interfaces in mobile device and user behaviors with those interfaces. To define multimodal interface and describe user interaction, we designed xml based markup language called UIDML (User Interaction Description Markup Language). AiR Sound augments user experiences by making a sound through both an object and its associated user’s motion defined in the UIDML.
