- A series of hybrid nanocomposites containing poly(L-lactide) (PLLA) and polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane (POSS)
were prepared by solvent casting method for enhancement the mechanical properties of PLLA. Two types of PLLA–
POSS additives were synthesized via the ring-opening polymerization of L-lactide and POSS in different content and
mixed with PLLA matrix to make a type of composites that can show significant improvement in mechanical properties.
Polymer composite without intermolecular interaction between POSS and PLLA matrix was fabricated by physical
blending and used as control. The nanocomposite composition and their properties were investigated by 1H-NMR, FTIR,
SEM, DSC and XRD. Also, protein adsorption and platelet adhesion data confirmed the biocompatibility of these
