Abstract
The KIST-USANS1 consists of a premonochormator, monochromator, and multiple analyzers. The multiple analyzers allow us to reduce the data collection time. Since each set consists of an encoder, limit switch, and many stepping motors (for x, y, tilt stage, rotation stage), the motion control system is complex. It is necessary to develop a simplified controlling system for KIST-USANS. We designed the simplified version of the control and data acquisition system with the following features: A single stepping motor driver controls the multiple stepping motors. An encoder and limit switch can be selected among the various encoders and limit switches, and the signal is checked with the electric circuit with multiple branches. The circuit was designed with CPLD (FPGA). Five one-dimensional He3 neutron detectors for each analyzer were assigned and the signals are collected with a typical sequence of preamplifier, amplifier, single channel analyzer (SCA), and PC. Since the USANS instrument can be operated under a vacuum, the feedthrough design is also important. This poster will present details of each control and acquisition module.
