Abstract
Magnetic tunnel junctions (MTJs) with perpendicular magnetic anisotropy (PMA) materials have been intensely studied due to its high thermal stability and potential for reducing the critical current density. The L10 ordered FePd alloy (CuAu I-type) is one of the interesting PMA materials due to its high uniaxial magnetocrystalline anisotropy constant (Ku~107 ergs/㎤). To achieve a high PMA constant Ku, it is important to grow the FePd film at the proper temperature to promote the L10 ordering, i.e. a Fe(1ML)/Pd(ML) superlattice structure. In this study, we measured the growth temperature and thickness dependent magnetic anisotropy of L10 ordered FePd thin films with perpendicular magnetic anisotropy.
