Abstract
In the absence of bacteria toluene was removed by irreversible sorption (35%) In the presence of bacteria and glucose, toluene mass was removed through biodegradation (21%) Shape of BTC showed extensive tailing and which was due to bacteria-facilitated transport caused by sorption of toluene onto the bacteria Major processes influencing toluene transport through quartz sand were irreversible sorption, biodegradation and bacteria-facilitated transport
