- RuO2•xH2O for supercapacitor has emerged as promising energy storage material that is critical for future electric vehicles and portable electronics demanding enhanced power density. Especially, amorphous RuO2•xH2O exhibits higher specific capacitance than crystalline RuO2∙xH2O with its enriched transport pathways for both protons and electrons. Conventional sol-gel RuO2•xH2O requires annealing at high temperature for hours to obtain its amorphous structure with targeted properties. To improve process efficiency dramatically, we demonstrate a high-speed annealing of RuO2•xH2O at room temperature for milliseconds employing novel flash light process. Resultant RuO2∙xH2O is analyzed by scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction to ensure its amorphous structure and to compare with thermally annealed one. Finally, electrochemical characteristics as an active material of supercapacitors are investigated throughout cycle voltammetry.
