Abstract
20-50 nm width of nano wire (NW) gate field effect transistors (FETs) have a good sensitivity for detecting charged molecules when the charged molecules bind to the NW surface. In this work, we have integrated the NWFET biosensor with a microfluidic channel device designed for mixing, separating, and medium changing of liquid flow or action of bead for a combinatorial chemistry approach tagging chemical reactions during synthesizing DNA, drug, and dyeing cells. A microfluidic pump provides solutions A and B through the two different inlets of the microfluidic device and 100ng/ml CRP is simultaneously injected with the solution B. While two solutions pass through the micro channels, the solution A is separately exits through 5 channels and the solution B containing the CRP bypasses the channels and clearly be detected by the NWFET biosensor at the outlet of the microfluidic device. The real time conductance change caused by binding of CRP on the NW surface shows that the sensitivity is 16.81%, which is calculated from the variation of conductance (ΔG/G0). And, the performance of microfluidic device and NWFET sensor has been investigated by changing the solution B containing PBS. The criterion of channel numbers for successful separation and sensitivity of the NWFET will be discussed according to different injected solutions.
