- Youngia denticulata (Compositae) is the wild vegetable and grows in China, Japan, and Korea. The extracts of Y. denticulate were reported to have strong hepatoprotective effects against oxidative damage induced by tert-butyl hydroperoxide in HepG2 cells. Online HPLC-ABTS+ based assay system and HPLC-ESI/MS were developed to rapidly determine and identify the phenolic antioxidants in Y. denticulata extracts. The phenolic compounds, caftaric acid, chlorogenic acid, chicoric acid and 3,5-DCQA, were indicated good antioxidant activities measured by online HPLC-ABTS+. The extraction efficiency of 4 compounds were evaluated on the various key factors including solvent compositions (0-100% ethanol in water), temperatures (50 and 70℃) , extraction time (3 and 8 hours) and plant parts (aerial and underground part).
