Abstract
Various MEMS based silicon neural probes have been introduced to simultaneously record as well as stimulate multiple sites for studying brain for stimulation. Recently optical stimulation has been reported as an alternative to electrical stimulation with potential advantages such as noncontact stimulation and investigated to selectively stimulate the specific nerves. In this paper, we report a neural probe which can optical stimulate though optical fiber and record extracellular neural signals though platinum electrodes. Especially, we use optical fiber guiding groove made with polymer(SU-8) for easy alignment with an optical fiber.
