Abstract
Isotropic pitch fibers were stabilized and carbonized for preparing carbon fibers. TGA thermograms were used to decide stabilization conditions such as temperature and duration. The electrical conductivity of carbon fibers increased with an increase of the carbonization temperature, indicating development of graphitic structure. However, morphological difference was not observed by SEM even though fibers were heat treated up to 2000 ℃.
