- In this study, we investigated the molecular mechanism underlying hypolipidemic effects of SN159.
SN159 is dual action molecules that operate as agonists of the PPAR α and γ. Furthermore, treatment with SN159 strongly enhanced insulin sensitivity under both normal and insulin-resistant conditions, which was confirmed by an observation that SN159 treatment led to a increase in both tyrosine phosphorylation of insulin receptor (IR) and Akt phosphorylation.
We suggested that SN159 has dual action on both PPAR alpha and PPAR gamma and it might be considered as an anti-obesity agent that is effective for increasing glucose uptake and improving insulin sensitizing.
