Abstract
Since graphene was experimentally discovered in 2004, it has been in intensive focus of research due to its remarkable electronic, mechanical, thermal properties. Stemming from covalent sp2 bonding nature, it could block most of gas species including helium and hydrogen as a 2 dimensional membrane. White graphene is a BN analog of graphene, where carbon atoms are replaced by boron and nitrogen atoms. Graphene and white graphene could be synthesized by a CVD (chemical vapor deposition) method from the vapor or solid precursors. Transfer and coating methods for graphene and white graphene were developed in order to incorporate graphene or white graphene materials onto substrates for efficient hydrogen blocking stacks. Effect of graphene or white graphene as a gas barrier was tested with hydrogen gas, and mechanism of hydrogen blocking was studied.
