Abstract
A BOCDA system is used to measure local Brillouin gain spectra of fiber tapers according to waist diameter. An exponential variation of Brillouin frequency is observed with the taper diameter, which matches with the theoretical prediction based on the leaky mode approximation of acoustic modes.
