Abstract
The membrane distillation process was evaluated according to the membrane characteristics -PTFE/PP composite membrane made by stretching technology showed better flux than single layer PP or PVDF membranes. -Increasing the pore size can be a option to increase the flux for the MD membrane if more careful operation is guaranteed. -The flux of the PTFE/PP membrane with scrim type hydrophobic thin support layer showed higher than that of the PTFE/PE membrane with tangled hydrophilic support layer. -The MD has a potential to be operated with the high ion (salt) concentration in the feed.
