Abstract
A neural probe with integrated light emitting diode (LED) is proposed and fabricated for the optical stimulation of optogenetic applications. The on-off operation and intensity of the integrated LEDs can be individually controlled by electrical signal without any crude outer laser light sources. The fabricated three LEDs on the suggested sapphire neural probe have linear light intensity characteristics, and emit the light intensity of 1 to 10mW/mm2 which is suitable for invivo optic stimulation. The feasibility of the batch process based LED optrode is successfully confirmed.
