<dcvalue element="description" qualifier="abstract">The&#x20;inverse&#x20;Faraday&#x20;effect&#x20;was&#x20;initially&#x20;discovered&#x20;with&#x20;dielectric&#x20;paramagnets&#x20;and&#x20;recently&#x20;extended&#x20;to&#x20;metallic&#x20;ferromagnets,&#x20;and&#x20;it&#x20;has&#x20;been&#x20;considered&#x20;as&#x20;one&#x20;of&#x20;the&#x20;key&#x20;mechanisms&#x20;for&#x20;the&#x20;optical&#x20;manipulation&#x20;of&#x20;the&#x20;magnetization.&#x20;Two&#x20;different&#x20;experimental&#x20;observations&#x20;were&#x20;attributed&#x20;to&#x20;the&#x20;inverse&#x20;Faraday&#x20;effect&#x20;induced&#x20;magnetic&#x20;moment&#x20;and&#x20;torque&#x20;on&#x20;the&#x20;magnetization.&#x20;In&#x20;this&#x20;work,&#x20;we&#x20;measure&#x20;the&#x20;induced&#x20;orbital&#x20;moment&#x20;and&#x20;field-like&#x20;torque&#x20;driven&#x20;by&#x20;the&#x20;inverse&#x20;Faraday&#x20;effect&#x20;in&#x20;metallic&#x20;ferromagnets&#x20;of&#x20;Co&#x20;and&#x20;show&#x20;a&#x20;relationship&#x20;between&#x20;them.&#x20;We&#x20;investigate&#x20;the&#x20;thickness&#x20;and&#x20;wavelength&#x20;dependence&#x20;of&#x20;the&#x20;induced&#x20;orbital&#x20;moment&#x20;and&#x20;field-like&#x20;torque&#x20;and&#x20;compare&#x20;them&#x20;with&#x20;theories.</dcvalue>
