<dcvalue element="description" qualifier="abstract">The&#x20;simultaneous&#x20;synthesis&#x20;and&#x20;densification&#x20;of&#x20;nanostructured&#x20;Mg4Al2Ti9O25&#x20;from&#x20;4MgO-Al2O3-9TiO(2)&#x20;powders&#x20;by&#x20;a&#x20;pulsed&#x20;current&#x20;activated&#x20;sintering&#x20;was&#x20;investigated.&#x20;The&#x20;advantage&#x20;of&#x20;this&#x20;process&#x20;is&#x20;that&#x20;it&#x20;allows&#x20;for&#x20;very&#x20;quick&#x20;densification&#x20;to&#x20;occur&#x20;near&#x20;the&#x20;theoretical&#x20;density&#x20;and&#x20;inhibits&#x20;grain&#x20;growth.&#x20;A&#x20;highly&#x20;dense&#x20;nanostructured&#x20;Mg4Al2Ti9O25&#x20;compound&#x20;was&#x20;produced&#x20;with&#x20;the&#x20;simultaneous&#x20;application&#x20;of&#x20;80-MPa&#x20;pressure&#x20;and&#x20;a&#x20;pulsed&#x20;current&#x20;within&#x20;1&#x20;min.&#x20;The&#x20;sintering&#x20;behavior,&#x20;grain&#x20;size&#x20;and&#x20;mechanical&#x20;properties&#x20;of&#x20;Mg4Al2Ti9O23&#x20;were&#x20;investigated.&#x20;(C)&#x20;2012&#x20;Elsevier&#x20;Ltd&#x20;and&#x20;Techna&#x20;Group&#x20;S.r.l.&#x20;All&#x20;rights&#x20;reserved.</dcvalue>
