<dcvalue element="description" qualifier="abstract">The&#x20;optical&#x20;geometry&#x20;of&#x20;two&#x20;adjacent&#x20;detectors&#x20;in&#x20;the&#x20;focal&#x20;plane&#x20;of&#x20;a&#x20;scanning&#x20;millimeter&#x20;wave&#x20;imaging&#x20;system&#x20;is&#x20;similar&#x20;to&#x20;that&#x20;of&#x20;a&#x20;stereo&#x20;camera&#x20;with&#x20;optical&#x20;axes&#x20;of&#x20;two&#x20;component&#x20;cameras&#x20;which&#x20;are&#x20;diverging&#x20;radially.&#x20;The&#x20;perceived&#x20;image&#x20;characteristics&#x20;of&#x20;the&#x20;diverging-type&#x20;stereo&#x20;camera&#x20;are&#x20;analyzed,&#x20;and&#x20;they&#x20;are&#x20;compared&#x20;with&#x20;those&#x20;of&#x20;other&#x20;camera&#x20;arrangements,&#x20;such&#x20;as&#x20;parallel-&#x20;and&#x20;radially&#x20;converging-types.&#x20;The&#x20;distortions&#x20;induce&#x20;the&#x20;image&#x20;closer&#x20;to&#x20;the&#x20;viewers&#x20;for&#x20;the&#x20;diverging-type&#x20;while&#x20;away&#x20;for&#x20;the&#x20;converging.&#x20;The&#x20;inducement&#x20;is&#x20;more&#x20;prominent&#x20;as&#x20;the&#x20;camera&#x20;distance&#x20;between&#x20;two&#x20;component&#x20;cameras&#x20;of&#x20;the&#x20;stereo&#x20;camera,&#x20;especially&#x20;for&#x20;the&#x20;diverging-type.</dcvalue>
