<dcvalue element="description" qualifier="abstract">Fibrin&#x20;glue&#x20;(FG)&#x20;has&#x20;been&#x20;worldwidely&#x20;used&#x20;as&#x20;a&#x20;potent&#x20;surgical&#x20;adhesive&#x20;for&#x20;microvascular&#x20;blood&#x20;vessel&#x20;anastomoses.&#x0A;It&#x20;needs&#x20;to&#x20;improve&#x20;some&#x20;problems&#x20;in&#x20;present&#x20;clinical&#x20;uses&#x20;by&#x20;allowing&#x20;a&#x20;quicker&#x20;clotting&#x20;time&#x20;and&#x20;higher&#x20;mechanical&#x0A;properties.&#x20;The&#x20;purpose&#x20;of&#x20;this&#x20;study&#x20;aims&#x20;to&#x20;engineer&#x20;the&#x20;novel&#x20;fibrin&#x20;glue&#x2F;alginate&#x20;(ALG)&#x20;interpenetrating&#x20;network&#x0A;(FG-ALG&#x20;IPN)&#x20;adhesive&#x20;to&#x20;achieve&#x20;both&#x20;requirements.&#x20;The&#x20;alginate&#x20;networks&#x20;in&#x20;FG&#x20;shorten&#x20;the&#x20;clotting&#x20;time&#x20;and&#x0A;enhance&#x20;the&#x20;mechanical&#x20;properties.&#x20;However,&#x20;the&#x20;incorporation&#x20;of&#x20;ampicillin&#x20;(AMP)&#x20;as&#x20;antibiotics&#x20;does&#x20;not&#x20;affect&#x20;both&#x0A;clotting&#x20;time&#x20;and&#x20;mechanical&#x20;properties.&#x20;As&#x20;a&#x20;consequence,&#x20;this&#x20;novel&#x20;FG-ALG&#x20;IPN&#x20;is&#x20;expected&#x20;to&#x20;be&#x20;used&#x20;for&#x20;hemostasis,&#x0A;tissue&#x20;adhesive,&#x20;suture&#x20;support,&#x20;wound&#x20;care,&#x20;sealing&#x20;and&#x20;filling&#x20;of&#x20;body&#x20;defect,&#x20;drug&#x20;carriers,&#x20;and&#x20;tissue-engineered&#x0A;scaffolds.</dcvalue>
