<dcvalue element="description" qualifier="abstract">We&#x20;studied&#x20;the&#x20;effects&#x20;of&#x20;surface&#x20;passivation&#x20;on&#x20;the&#x20;growth&#x20;of&#x20;CdSe&#x20;quantum&#x20;dots&#x20;(QDs).&#x20;In&#x20;addition,&#x20;we&#x20;fabricated&#x20;QD&#x20;thin&#x20;films&#x20;and&#x20;light-emitting&#x20;diodes&#x20;(LEDs).&#x20;A&#x20;chemical&#x20;colloidal&#x20;method&#x20;was&#x20;used&#x20;to&#x20;grow&#x20;CdSe&#x20;QDs&#x20;and&#x20;their&#x20;characteristics&#x20;were&#x20;evaluated&#x20;by&#x20;using&#x20;a&#x20;photoluminescence&#x20;(PL)&#x20;measurement.&#x20;An&#x20;effective&#x20;surface&#x20;passivation&#x20;of&#x20;mono-disperse&#x20;CdSe&#x20;QDs&#x20;was&#x20;achieved&#x20;by&#x20;overcoating&#x20;them&#x20;with&#x20;ZnS.&#x20;Layer-by-layer&#x20;assembly&#x20;was&#x20;used&#x20;to&#x20;fabricate&#x20;QD&#x20;thin&#x20;films&#x20;with&#x20;molecular&#x20;order&#x20;and&#x20;stability.&#x20;The&#x20;PL&#x20;spectra&#x20;of&#x20;the&#x20;QD&#x20;thin&#x20;films&#x20;indicate&#x20;that&#x20;the&#x20;QDs&#x20;were&#x20;successfully&#x20;assembled&#x20;into&#x20;thin&#x20;film.&#x20;Finally,&#x20;we&#x20;obtained&#x20;electroluminescence&#x20;images&#x20;from&#x20;the&#x20;active&#x20;layer&#x20;of&#x20;the&#x20;QD-LED&#x20;as&#x20;a&#x20;function&#x20;of&#x20;the&#x20;injection&#x20;current.</dcvalue>
