<dcvalue element="description" qualifier="abstract">Indium-tin-oxide&#x20;substrate-supported&#x20;chemically&#x20;synthesized&#x20;bismuth&#x20;sulfide&#x20;upright-standing&#x20;platelets&#x20;of&#x20;micron-size&#x20;height&#x20;and&#x20;nanometer-size&#x20;width&#x20;are&#x20;explored&#x20;for&#x20;the&#x20;field&#x20;emission.&#x20;Bismuth&#x20;sulfide&#x20;upright-standing&#x20;platelets&#x20;electrode&#x20;shows&#x20;a&#x20;turn-on&#x20;field&#x20;of&#x20;2.83&#x20;V&#x2F;mu&#x20;m&#x20;at&#x20;a&#x20;current&#x20;density&#x20;of&#x20;10&#x20;mu&#x20;A&#x2F;cm(2),&#x20;a&#x20;maximum&#x20;emissive&#x20;current&#x20;of&#x20;49&#x20;mu&#x20;A&#x2F;cm(2)&#x20;(3.5&#x20;V&#x2F;mu&#x20;m),&#x20;and&#x20;9396&#x20;beta-factor&#x20;comparable&#x20;to&#x20;the&#x20;field&#x20;emission&#x20;studies&#x20;of&#x20;carbon&#x20;nanotubes,&#x20;when&#x20;used&#x20;as&#x20;a&#x20;cathode&#x20;for&#x20;emitting&#x20;current&#x20;under&#x20;applied&#x20;voltage.&#x20;(C)&#x20;2008&#x20;American&#x20;Institute&#x20;of&#x20;Physics.</dcvalue>
