<dcvalue element="description" qualifier="abstract">In&#x20;this&#x20;paper,&#x20;we&#x20;analyzed&#x20;the&#x20;timing&#x20;characteristics&#x20;of&#x20;a&#x20;widely&#x20;tunable&#x20;sampled&#x20;grating&#x20;distributed&#x20;feedback&#x20;(SGDFB)&#x20;laser&#x20;diode&#x20;integrated&#x20;with&#x20;sampled&#x20;grating&#x20;distributed&#x20;Bragg&#x20;reflector&#x20;(SGDBR).&#x20;The&#x20;improved&#x20;time-domain&#x20;model&#x20;is&#x20;used&#x20;to&#x20;analyze&#x20;the&#x20;laser&#x20;diode.&#x20;From&#x20;the&#x20;numerical&#x20;analysis,&#x20;the&#x20;length&#x20;of&#x20;the&#x20;phase&#x20;control&#x20;region&#x20;in&#x20;the&#x20;SGDFB&#x20;section&#x20;has&#x20;an&#x20;influence&#x20;on&#x20;the&#x20;output&#x20;power&#x20;and&#x20;the&#x20;tuning&#x20;range.&#x20;Also,&#x20;the&#x20;tuning&#x20;range&#x20;is&#x20;observed&#x20;to&#x20;be&#x20;affected&#x20;by&#x20;the&#x20;length&#x20;of&#x20;the&#x20;laser&#x20;diode,&#x20;the&#x20;residual&#x20;reflectivity&#x20;at&#x20;the&#x20;facet&#x20;and&#x20;the&#x20;position&#x20;of&#x20;the&#x20;facet.</dcvalue>
