<dcvalue element="description" qualifier="abstract">Pt&#x20;and&#x20;Co&#x20;doped&#x20;silica&#x20;aerogels&#x20;have&#x20;been&#x20;synthesized&#x20;by&#x20;sol-gel&#x20;method&#x20;and&#x20;subsequent&#x20;supercritical&#x20;drying.&#x20;Wet-gel&#x20;state&#x20;of&#x20;silica&#x20;was&#x20;used&#x20;in&#x20;the&#x20;adsorption&#x20;process&#x20;in&#x20;order&#x20;to&#x20;accommodate&#x20;Pt&#x20;and&#x20;Co.&#x20;Catalytic&#x20;activities&#x20;for&#x20;preferential&#x20;oxidation&#x20;of&#x20;CO&#x20;in&#x20;H-2-rich&#x20;fuels&#x20;were&#x20;measured&#x20;in&#x20;the&#x20;temperature&#x20;range&#x20;from&#x20;25&#x20;degrees&#x20;C&#x20;to&#x20;300&#x20;degrees&#x20;C.&#x20;At&#x20;2500&#x20;ppm&#x20;of&#x20;carbon&#x20;monoxide,&#x20;COPt-SiO2&#x20;aerogels&#x20;showed&#x20;good&#x20;activities&#x20;in&#x20;a&#x20;wide&#x20;range&#x20;of&#x20;temperatures&#x20;maintaining&#x20;less&#x20;than&#x20;20&#x20;ppm&#x20;at&#x20;125-250&#x20;degrees&#x20;C.&#x20;(c)&#x20;2007&#x20;Elsevier&#x20;B.V.&#x20;All&#x20;rights&#x20;reserved.</dcvalue>
