<dcvalue element="description" qualifier="abstract">The&#x20;electrorheological&#x20;(ER)&#x20;performance&#x20;of&#x20;submicron-sized&#x20;hollow&#x20;polyaniline&#x20;(PANI)&#x20;dicarboxylate&#x20;salt&#x20;form&#x20;as&#x20;an&#x20;anhydrous&#x20;ER&#x20;materials&#x20;suspended&#x20;in&#x20;a&#x20;silicone&#x20;oil,&#x20;was&#x20;studied&#x20;under&#x20;several&#x20;applied&#x20;external&#x20;field&#x20;strength.&#x20;The&#x20;influences&#x20;of&#x20;alkyl&#x20;chain&#x20;length,&#x20;functional&#x20;group,&#x20;and&#x20;hollow&#x20;sphere&#x20;of&#x20;the&#x20;novel&#x20;synthesized&#x20;PANI&#x20;salt&#x20;derivatives&#x20;was&#x20;focus&#x20;on&#x20;this&#x20;paper,&#x20;and&#x20;their&#x20;suspensions&#x20;showed&#x20;good&#x20;ER&#x20;response&#x20;and&#x20;dispersion&#x20;stability.&#x20;Throughout&#x20;the&#x20;experimental&#x20;results,&#x20;for&#x20;hollow&#x20;PANI&#x20;derivatives&#x20;ER&#x20;performance&#x20;decreased&#x20;with&#x20;increasingly&#x20;alkyl&#x20;chain&#x20;length,&#x20;possibly&#x20;long&#x20;chains&#x20;are&#x20;less&#x20;electrically&#x20;polarizable.&#x20;(c)&#x20;2006&#x20;Elsevier&#x20;B.V.&#x20;All&#x20;rights&#x20;reserved.</dcvalue>
