<dcvalue element="description" qualifier="abstract">The&#x20;mechanical&#x20;properties&#x20;of&#x20;Zr-41&#x20;2Ti13.8CU12.5Ni10Be22.5&#x20;(Vitreloy&#x20;1,&#x20;(Vit.&#x20;1))&#x20;have&#x20;been&#x20;examined&#x20;after&#x20;cold&#x20;rolling,&#x20;For&#x20;the&#x20;cold&#x20;rolled&#x20;Vit.&#x20;I&#x20;up&#x20;to&#x20;18&amp;apos;V.,&#x20;in&#x20;thickness&#x20;reduction.&#x20;both&#x20;ultimate&#x20;compressive&#x20;strength&#x20;and&#x20;ductility&#x20;exhibited&#x20;tip&#x20;it)&#x20;1.95&#x20;GPa&#x20;with&#x20;20&amp;apos;X,&#x20;of&#x20;elongation.&#x20;It&#x20;appears&#x20;that&#x20;the&#x20;increase&#x20;of&#x20;strength&#x20;and&#x20;elongation&#x20;was&#x20;due&#x20;to&#x20;the&#x20;high&#x20;density&#x20;of&#x20;shear&#x20;bands&#x20;together&#x20;with&#x20;in&#x20;situ&#x20;nano-crystallization&#x20;by&#x20;cold&#x20;rolling.&#x20;The&#x20;in&#x20;situ&#x20;nano&#x20;crystallization&#x20;was&#x20;confirmed&#x20;by&#x20;Differential&#x20;scanning&#x20;calorimetry&#x20;(DSC)&#x20;and&#x20;high&#x20;resolution&#x20;transmission&#x20;electron&#x20;microscope&#x20;(HR-TEM).&#x20;The&#x20;enhancement&#x20;of&#x20;mechanical&#x20;properties&#x20;was&#x20;discussed&#x20;in&#x20;terms&#x20;of&#x20;in&#x20;situ&#x20;nano-crystallization&#x20;and&#x20;structural&#x20;stability&#x20;of&#x20;Vit.&#x20;1.&#x20;(c)&#x20;2005&#x20;Elsevier&#x20;B.V.&#x20;All&#x20;rights&#x20;reserved.</dcvalue>
