<dcvalue element="description" qualifier="abstract">Stable&#x20;MgxZn1-xO&#x20;solid&#x20;solutions&#x20;(0.32&#x20;&lt;=&#x20;x&#x20;&lt;=&#x20;0.67)&#x20;with&#x20;a&#x20;rock&#x20;salt&#x20;structure&#x20;were&#x20;synthesized&#x20;at&#x20;temperatures&#x20;higher&#x20;than&#x20;700&#x20;degrees&#x20;C&#x20;and&#x20;pressures&#x20;above&#x20;5&#x20;GPa.&#x20;The&#x20;lattice&#x20;parameters&#x20;and&#x20;the&#x20;Mg&#x2F;Zn&#x20;ratio&#x20;were&#x20;determined&#x20;by&#x20;the&#x20;Rietveld&#x20;method&#x20;from&#x20;the&#x20;powder&#x20;x-ray&#x20;diffraction&#x20;data.&#x20;Raman&#x20;scattering&#x20;studies&#x20;confirmed&#x20;the&#x20;cubic&#x20;structure.&#x20;Cathodoluminescence&#x20;spectra&#x20;have&#x20;shown&#x20;blue-shifted&#x20;luminescence&#x20;as&#x20;a&#x20;result&#x20;of&#x20;the&#x20;band&#x20;gap&#x20;widening&#x20;of&#x20;the&#x20;solid&#x20;solutions.</dcvalue>
