<dcvalue element="description" qualifier="abstract">Light-emitting&#x20;devices&#x20;based&#x20;on&#x20;environmentally&#x20;stable,&#x20;blue-emitting&#x20;polymer&#x2F;dielectric&#x20;nanolayer&#x20;nanocomposites&#x20;were&#x20;fabricated&#x20;by&#x20;blending&#x20;poly(di-octylfluorene)&#x20;(PDOF)&#x20;with&#x20;organo-clay.&#x20;By&#x20;reducing&#x20;the&#x20;excimer&#x20;formation&#x20;that&#x20;leads&#x20;to&#x20;long&#x20;wavelength&#x20;tails,&#x20;the&#x20;photoluminescence&#x20;(PL)&#x20;and&#x20;electroluminescence&#x20;(EL)&#x20;color&#x20;purity&#x20;of&#x20;the&#x20;device&#x20;was&#x20;enhanced.&#x20;When&#x20;a&#x20;conjugated&#x20;polymer&#x2F;dielectric&#x20;nanolayer&#x20;nanocomposite&#x20;is&#x20;applied&#x20;to&#x20;an&#x20;EL&#x20;device,&#x20;we&#x20;expect&#x20;an&#x20;electronic&#x20;structure&#x20;similar&#x20;to&#x20;the&#x20;well-known&#x20;quantum&#x20;well&#x20;in&#x20;small&#x20;nanodomains.&#x20;The&#x20;ratio&#x20;of&#x20;PDOF&#x2F;organo-clay&#x20;was&#x20;regulated&#x20;from&#x20;2:1&#x20;to&#x20;0.5:1&#x20;(w&#x2F;w).&#x20;The&#x20;light-emitting&#x20;device&#x20;of&#x20;0.5:1&#x20;(w&#x2F;w)&#x20;blend&#x20;demonstrated&#x20;the&#x20;highest&#x20;quantum&#x20;efficiency&#x20;(QE),&#x20;0.72%&#x20;(ph&#x2F;el),&#x20;which&#x20;is&#x20;similar&#x20;to&#x20;500&#x20;times&#x20;higher&#x20;value&#x20;compared&#x20;with&#x20;that&#x20;of&#x20;the&#x20;pure&#x20;PDOF&#x20;layer&#x20;device.&#x20;However,&#x20;the&#x20;driving&#x20;voltage&#x20;of&#x20;the&#x20;nanocomposite&#x20;devices&#x20;tended&#x20;to&#x20;increase&#x20;with&#x20;increasing&#x20;organo-clay&#x20;content.&#x20;(C)&#x20;2003&#x20;Elsevier&#x20;B.V&#x20;All&#x20;rights&#x20;reserved.</dcvalue>
