<dcvalue element="description" qualifier="abstract">The&#x20;effects&#x20;of&#x20;catalyst&#x20;content,&#x20;reaction&#x20;temperature,&#x20;gas&#x20;composition,&#x20;and&#x20;pressure&#x20;on&#x20;the&#x20;activity&#x20;and&#x20;selectivity&#x20;of&#x20;Cu&#x2F;ZnO&#x2F;Al2O3&#x20;catalyst&#x20;for&#x20;the&#x20;methanol&#x20;synthesis&#x20;have&#x20;been&#x20;investigated&#x20;in&#x20;a&#x20;high&#x20;pressure&#x20;fixed&#x20;bed&#x20;reactor.&#x20;Methanol&#x20;yield&#x20;shows&#x20;a&#x20;maximum&#x20;value&#x20;at&#x20;around&#x20;250oC&#x20;and&#x20;increases&#x20;with&#x20;increasing&#x20;reaction&#x20;pressure.&#x20;Among&#x20;the&#x20;catalysts&#x20;used,&#x20;Cu&#x2F;ZnO&#x2F;Al2O3(49:16:15)&#x20;showed&#x20;the&#x20;highest&#x20;catalyic&#x20;activity.&#x20;The&#x20;methanol&#x20;yield&#x20;increases&#x20;with&#x20;increasing&#x20;CO2&#x20;concentration&#x20;up&#x20;to&#x20;10%&#x20;and&#x20;then&#x20;decreases&#x20;with&#x20;the&#x20;increase&#x20;of&#x20;CO2&#x20;concentration&#x20;due&#x20;to&#x20;the&#x20;strong&#x20;adsorption&#x20;of&#x20;H2O&#x20;and&#x20;CO2&#x20;on&#x20;the&#x20;active&#x20;site&#x20;of&#x20;catalyst.</dcvalue>
