<dcvalue element="description" qualifier="abstract">The&#x20;electrorheological&#x20;(ER)&#x20;performance&#x20;of&#x20;chitosan&#x20;phosphate&#x20;suspension&#x20;in&#x20;silicone&#x20;oil&#x20;was&#x20;investigated.&#x20;Chitosan&#x20;phosphate&#x20;suspension&#x20;showed&#x20;a&#x20;typical&#x20;ER&#x20;response&#x20;(Bingham&#x20;flow&#x20;behavior)&#x20;and&#x20;exhibited&#x20;an&#x20;excellent&#x20;shear&#x20;yield&#x20;stress&#x20;due&#x20;to&#x20;the&#x20;formation&#x20;of&#x20;multiple&#x20;chains&#x20;upon&#x20;the&#x20;application&#x20;of&#x20;the&#x20;electric&#x20;field.&#x20;The&#x20;shear&#x20;stress&#x20;for&#x20;chitosan&#x20;phosphate&#x20;suspension&#x20;showed&#x20;a&#x20;linear&#x20;dependence&#x20;on&#x20;the&#x20;volume&#x20;fraction&#x20;of&#x20;particles&#x20;and&#x20;1.67&#x20;power&#x20;of&#x20;the&#x20;electric&#x20;field.&#x20;The&#x20;experimental&#x20;results&#x20;for&#x20;the&#x20;chitosan&#x20;phosphate&#x20;suspension&#x20;correlated&#x20;with&#x20;the&#x20;conduction&#x20;model&#x20;for&#x20;ER&#x20;response.</dcvalue>
