<dcvalue element="description" qualifier="abstract">Two&#x20;different&#x20;antitumour&#x20;chemotherapeutic&#x20;agents,&#x20;doxorubicin&#x20;and&#x20;(dach)platinum(II)&#x20;complex&#x20;(dach&#x20;=&#x20;trans(+&#x2F;-)-1,2-diaminocyclohexane)&#x20;were&#x20;introduced&#x20;into&#x20;poly(organophosphazene)&#x20;using&#x20;L-glutamic&#x20;acid&#x20;as&#x20;a&#x20;spacer.&#x20;The&#x20;resultant&#x20;polymeric&#x20;conjugates&#x20;exhibited&#x20;high&#x20;in&#x20;vivo&#x20;antitumour&#x20;activity&#x20;which&#x20;increased&#x20;with&#x20;increasing&#x20;content&#x20;of&#x20;(dach)platinum(II)&#x20;in&#x20;the&#x20;conjugates.&#x20;The&#x20;polymeric&#x20;conjugate&#x20;bearing&#x20;12.3&#x20;mol%&#x20;of&#x20;doxorubicin&#x20;and&#x20;47.6&#x20;mol%&#x20;of&#x20;(dach)platinum(II)&#x20;has&#x20;shown&#x20;the&#x20;highest&#x20;antitumour&#x20;activity,&#x20;which&#x20;is&#x20;higher&#x20;than&#x20;any&#x20;one&#x20;alone&#x20;of&#x20;cisplatin,&#x20;carboplatin,&#x20;or&#x20;doxorubicin.&#x20;(C)&#x20;1999&#x20;Society&#x20;of&#x20;Chemical&#x20;Industry.</dcvalue>
