<dcvalue element="description" qualifier="abstract">Gain&#x20;control&#x20;in&#x20;an&#x20;erbium-doped&#x20;fibre&#x20;amplifier&#x20;(EDFA)&#x20;using&#x20;two&#x20;fibre&#x20;Bragg&#x20;gratings&#x20;and&#x20;a&#x20;fibre-stretcher&#x20;is&#x20;demonstrated.&#x20;Various&#x20;stabilised&#x20;gain&#x20;levels&#x20;can&#x20;be&#x20;achieved&#x20;by&#x20;tuning&#x20;the&#x20;centre&#x20;wavelength&#x20;of&#x20;a&#x20;grating,&#x20;which&#x20;changes&#x20;the&#x20;optical&#x20;cavity&#x20;loss&#x20;of&#x20;the&#x20;EDFA&#x20;in&#x20;lasing.</dcvalue>
