<dcvalue element="description" qualifier="abstract">Ru&#x20;doped&#x20;TiO2&#x20;composite&#x20;membranes&#x20;were&#x20;prepared&#x20;by&#x20;a&#x20;sol-gel&#x20;process.&#x20;The&#x20;Ru-doped&#x20;TiO2&#x20;sol&#x20;was&#x20;peptized&#x20;with&#x20;hydrochloric&#x20;acid&#x20;and&#x20;well&#x20;dispersed&#x20;in&#x20;the&#x20;solution.&#x20;The&#x20;average&#x20;pore&#x20;size&#x20;of&#x20;the&#x20;support&#x20;was&#x20;about&#x20;0.125&#x20;mu&#x20;m&#x20;and&#x20;the&#x20;pore&#x20;size&#x20;distribution&#x20;was&#x20;narrow.&#x20;The&#x20;Ru-doped&#x20;TiO2&#x20;composite&#x20;membranes&#x20;were&#x20;obtained&#x20;by&#x20;dipping&#x20;the&#x20;support&#x20;in&#x20;a&#x20;mixed&#x20;sol.&#x20;The&#x20;thickness&#x20;of&#x20;the&#x20;Ru-doped&#x20;TiO2&#x20;composite&#x20;membranes&#x20;were&#x20;in&#x20;the&#x20;range&#x20;of&#x20;50-1000&#x20;nm.&#x20;The&#x20;mean&#x20;particle&#x20;size&#x20;of&#x20;the&#x20;Ru-doped&#x20;TiO2&#x20;composite&#x20;membranes&#x20;was&#x20;smaller&#x20;than&#x20;that&#x20;of&#x20;the&#x20;undoped&#x20;TiO,&#x20;composite&#x20;membrane.&#x20;It&#x20;was&#x20;observed&#x20;that&#x20;the&#x20;Ru&#x20;doped&#x20;TiO2&#x20;composite&#x20;membranes&#x20;exhibited&#x20;a&#x20;crack-free&#x20;microstructure&#x20;and&#x20;narrow&#x20;particle&#x20;size&#x20;distribution&#x20;even&#x20;after&#x20;calcination&#x20;up&#x20;to&#x20;800&#x20;degrees&#x20;C.&#x20;(C)&#x20;1997&#x20;Elsevier&#x20;Science&#x20;B.V.</dcvalue>
