<dcvalue element="description" qualifier="abstract">The&#x20;synthesis&#x20;of&#x20;phenoxyalkanoic&#x20;acid&#x20;derivatives&#x20;and&#x20;their&#x20;anti-inflammatory&#x20;and&#x20;analgesic&#x20;activities&#x20;are&#x20;described.&#x20;Analysis&#x20;of&#x20;structure-activity&#x20;relationships&#x20;shows&#x20;that&#x20;in&#x20;trichlorophenoxy&#x20;derivatives&#x20;anti-edematous&#x20;potency&#x20;is&#x20;associated&#x20;with&#x20;the&#x20;presence&#x20;of&#x20;1-thiopropyl&#x20;moiety&#x20;and&#x20;2&#x20;or&#x20;4-aminopyridyl&#x20;moiety&#x20;at&#x20;R&amp;apos;&#x20;position&#x20;contributes&#x20;to&#x20;the&#x20;analgesic&#x20;activity.</dcvalue>
